During the verification process it connects with MS as far as I am aware. I would also suspect, with a reasonable level of confidence, that it also does so from time to time during the subsequent "creation" steps until the iso is actually on the hard drive ready to burn.

In my experience over a variety of different situations, if one loses a link to a remote server over the internet, due to server load for example, it is most likely to drop in situations where there are gaps in the need for them to "chat" to each other, such as there are in the above.

But good luck, I hope you get it sorted. Doesn't sound as if you are in the right frame of mind to do so though .
