On some books on Amazon you can add audible narration. The audio is synced with the text, and allows you to switch between listening or reading. On my phone I tend to use audio a lot, on my tablet I sometimes increase the font size and turn on a black background ... just listening while the text being read is highlighted. And I also enjoy no audio at times, just reading on my Kindle PW2.

It costīs a little bit more, but itīs totally worth it I think.

I donīt recommend the kindle keyboard for audiobooks, because my experience at least was that it was receptive to digital noise and the occational crash. Use your regular audio equipment instead :-)

For listening on the subway, closed headphones or isolated in-ears works just fine. The apple ear pods are too open. (Noise-cancelling headphones tend to have some background hiss and cancel out so much it feels like Iīm stuck in some sort of vacuum, so I prefer the passive dampening of closed headphones, although itīs less effective)
