I think even if they did adequately estimate it, production is going to be limited primarily by the number of e-ink screens/controllers they can get. They can't necessarily increase production to the levels that they would like as quickly as they would like. Even absent an issue sourcing parts, they still may not have the manufacturing capacity with their contractor right away. Recognizing the need for increased stock doesn't mean you can always make it happen. IMO, Oprah's endorsement likely gains them more sales than another out-of-stock holiday season will lose them. It's sad for those that are having to wait. At least they seem to have kept more in reserve for RMAs this time. Last time, people were having to wait as long as new customers for replacement units.
