Unfortunately, it's hard to tell, for instance, there was some funky new stuff added in FW 5.6.x, the switch to CC isn't the only variable here :/. (FWIW, even the other way around isn't fool-proof, I'm fairly sure the issues I'm seeing on my PW1 updated from 5.x to 5.6 would be fixed w/ a factory reset or a targeted cleanup of some stuff in varlocal).

That, and the lack of a good way to tell if clearing the db is actually required or not depending on what the user is doing boils down to basically always doing it to be 'safe'.

I'd just go with backup & restore manually if you know you're doing a 'safe' downgrade, or reimport via LS.
