I recently purchased a new laptop (lenova yoga 3).

I installed Kindle for PC on the new laptop so that I could move new books into Calibre.

I noticed that the format Amazon is sending to the pc is AZW - not mobi or AZW3. I also noticed that my archived downloaded files are also being stored as AZW - at least, that is the file extension I see in the folder.

The good news is that the files already in Calibre and converted are still showing as AZW3 but any new book I'm trying to add and convert gets the DRM error message from Calibre. I don't know if that's because the file extension is AZW or because I need to update something in Calibre with the new laptop. But I wanted to try and figure out the file extension problem first before tackling the conversion problem.

So is there a setting somewhere in my laptop that I need to look at or in the Kindle for PC app that will allow the books to download in a recognized format?

Any help would be appreciated...
