I have two Echos, one in the bedroom, and one in the living room. I bought them both at the full price ($179). I have a short (and growing) wish list.
1. Ability to define the "wake word", I'm partial to "Sarah" but that's just me.
2. Intercom function between two or more Echos, so Susie can say something like "Alexa, call the living room" and initiate a two way conversation.
3. An Echo Junior: a less expensive unit that functions much like the remote and connects to an existing Echo but responds to the wake word rather than having to press a button. These could be mounted throughout the home so I don't have to go get the remote or go to within an Echo's range. Music would play through the connected Echo so only voice quality speakers would be needed. Note: I don't need no more stinking remotes!
4. Biometric identification of authorized users.
With the last two features I could mount an Echo Jr. outside the door and say "Alexa, unlock the front door." and if I'm an "authorized user" Alexa would say "OK" and unlock the door. Of course I would need a Z-Wave lock set and a hub (WINK?) to do that.
I suggested the first two on the list to Amazon, and received a positive response. They said that there would be more wake words but they didn't know what they would be or when they would be available, and that they would submit the intercom idea to the development team.
