I dug up this old thread because I've been getting the same error when connecting my Pocketbook Touch Lux 623. I have Calibre 2.33 installed and it has been happening for quite some time - can't say how long exactly because I had switched reading devices inbetween. I think it started some time in version 1.x.
I have no trouble sending books to my device, but the error keeps coming back whenever I connect it.
