I have to disagree with this. I've had a Kobo Aura HD for a year now, and still like it quite a bit. Love the fact that it's so customizable as far as fonts, margins, line spacing, etc. I haven't really been bothered by buggy firmware--but I do admit that there have been posts about that.
On the other hand, I have a Kindle PW2 and just today received a brand new Voyage in the mail. Haven't had a chance to put the Voyage through it's paces yet, but hope to get it loaded up with books tonight.
I like both my Kobos and Kindles--my feeling is if you want to read ePubs (without conversion) and to be able to customize your reading interface go with a Kobo. On the other hand, if you want something easy to use and easy access to Amazon's eBook store, go with a Kindle. The trade off is the limited customization of the user interface.
I would say that neither device would be the wrong choice.
