This was alluded to here (by me) and explicitly mentioned in the other thread.
The question is not if the methods exist to theoretically
do what the article claims, it's whether they've actually been so often misused that way as to still matter to anyone, and if MS would rename it's OS because if it.
And for the absence of any sensible argument or contrary evidence, the answers to the questions appear to be "no" and "no"
If you run in to an important Java app that would fail for this reason, let us know. We'll patch the byte code so you'll be safe when Windows 90 comes out...
