Yes, it's the app. For me personally, it's the app that drives the decision-making process. As you very rightly say, high-end Android tablets are certainly on a par with the iPad hardware-wise, and generally cheaper too, but the app is what you actually use, and iOS apps do often seem to be more polished than their Android equivalents.
