For me, between a Kindle Keyboard and a tablet, I'd take the Keyboard. Between the Kindle Keyboard and a Paperwhite, boom, I'm outta there.

I have K3, its still one of my favorite Kindles ever made. I have 1st Gen PW and 3rd Gen Kindle Fire HD tablet. For me, I use Kindle Fire the most, but not for actually me doing the reading. I love the text to speech function on it. If I'm out and driving, I can still listen to my book if its not on audible. The voice is a gigantic improvement over the text to speech function on Kindle 3. Much more human sounding and not nearly as robotic.
Second feature I use is Audible. This is why I bought it. I never cared for the tablet apps for audible. Having it built into the tablet was a nicer user experience. I don't use Fire for movies, mail, surfing. Its just a nicer experience looking through audible and the ebook store on it.
That said, PW is worth getting. I'm waiting for next Gen Voyager to upgrade my 1st Gen PW. The Front lit is very nice on it. No more messing around with book lights if you want to read in the dark.
