One frequent use case of chapter range (for me) is sites like siye.co.uk. Because of the way new chapters are first put into a moderating queue (but still announced), the metadata are somewhat confused: a new Ch. 10 can exist, but its page just displays an error message and thus is rejected by FFF. So you have to use a range [1-9] to get a story, but the point wasn't to only read 1-9. It's just the only way to bypass the problem, for now.

It's such a case by case basis, I can't even decide what _I'd_ want... But honestly, if you select a range you'd usually want to mention it somewhere. The cases you _don't_ want to should be a lot less frequent, and it doesn't take long to manually remove the extra bit of title. So enabling it by default would make more sense.
