Yes, I do use Calibre, but I don't want the hassle of needing to a third format in addition to the Kindle and ePub formats I currently store my library in. Kobo really should fix the issues with ePub; I've owned many bookreaders over the years, and haven't come across any other on which selecting hyperlinks was as difficult as it was on my H2O.

Maybe it just semantics, but isn't the "Kindle Format" actually multiple formats (mobi, kf8, ?)? So why the hangup on epub/kepub.
In case you missed it, as dordale said (and I poorly eluded to) you never actually have to have the kepub stored in Calibre; the kepub can be generated on-the-fly when calibre is used to "put" the epub on the Kobo device.
I understand you do what is best for you, and your opinion and experience is valid, and with all the back and forth, the OP finds the epub/footnote problem unacceptable, but... why have a back and forth every time you post about "the touch screen on Kobos is poor and doesn't work well with footnotes". Why not be a little more specific, or give a disclaimer, or a link to other posts that discuss the issue. Wouldn't this be more productive to the MR community in general?
