I can (and do) read Kindle books on multiple devices. It is not, therefore, a single-device format.
Yes, I do use Calibre, but I don't want the hassle of needing to a third format in addition to the Kindle and ePub formats I currently store my library in. Kobo really should fix the issues with ePub; I've owned many bookreaders over the years, and haven't come across any other on which selecting hyperlinks was as difficult as it was on my H2O.
