And when prompted to do the setup, choose to do it via the PC. Connect to the PC and use the Kobo desktop application do do the setup but DO NOT eject. Then, go to the disk for the device, open the ".kobo" directory and remove the files "KoboRoot.tgz" and "manifest.md5sum" and the directory "upgrades". After that, you can eject. And as filmo said, you will be running the factory firmware.
But, unless you did the above when you first got the device, you have never used this firmware. When you set up a Kobo device, the latest firmware is automatically downloaded to it. What version is downloaded depends on when you first set the device up. And of course, if you sync to the Kobo server after that, new versions will be downloaded and installed.
