All in all I still find it somewhat funny to see an electronic gadget sold with a "free OTA update in few weeks" (release announcement) or "coming soon" (today's amazon page) feature. Opens up completely new marketing options, doesn't it? Think about the Amazon Blaze watch which may even show you the time of day after a "coming soon" free OTA update.
I'm not sure if the "enhanced typesetting" amounts to a supported feature of the PW3 (in any legal sense). Being the pinnacle of CS Amazon won't have a problem with reimbursing buyers of the PW3 who can't wait a "few weeks".
The PR hype (booklike reading experience) is a second thing I found funny. Example: this "large font" thingie. I can see the boys and girls at Amazon brainstorming for weeks to get a better rendering of justified, large font size text. And eureka: let's turn of justification above some threshold font size (and put in hyphenation for good measure) is the solution found. Now we have only to wait for them agreeing on the computation method and the exact threshold value - coming soon.
Don't get me wrong. I'm certain that it isn't a trivial task to add the new features in such a way that all things work in the best possible way. If an update comes to the PW1 I will - more likely than not - use it for my device which at the moment is still at FW 5.3.9. (and it is great that Amazon updates "prior-generation" devices with new features).
