Well Alexa arrived on Monday, and I've been playing with her since. I was a bit concerned that Susie would resist as she often doesn't take to new technology well. But she seem to be OK, albeit a bit reluctantly. The WINK hub and two GE Link light bulbs came last night and I was able to get it working and linked to Alexa. It works a treat!

I had a bit of a hassle getting both of them set up, neither of them wanted to connect to my router. It took a couple of tries for Alexa, but the WINK hub just wouldn't connect. I finally had to upgrade the firmware as the April fix hadn't been installed on the one I got. What a hassle... had to redirect the DNS server addresses in my router. Eventually I got it connected and linked to Alexa. Now Alexa can control both light bulbs either individually or as a group.

I played around with home automation a couple of years ago (before it was nearly as mature as it is now) and have several z-wave switches installed. Next step is the see if I can de-register them from Homeseer, and register them to the WINK hub.
