My S/N prefix has D059, running software version 7.4.8.

The D059 prefix would indicate that I have a Kindle Fire HD 7.

Tap Device, and then tap About. If you have the latest software update, it should look like this: 7.5.1_user_5172620.

If you see an earlier version, proceed with the steps in Download & Install Software Updates Automatically.

YET, the quote above ALSO REFERENCES the same name as in the very FIRST quote: Kindle Fire HD.
According to your current software version from above, you appear to have the 1st gen HD (like me). I'm currently running 7.5.1 and that's what you should update to.

One of my biggest gripes with Amazon is the naming scheme they use for their tablets. They'll use the same name for 2 or 3 models in a row and then after the fact, they go back and differentiate the models with a generation name. By then it's too late because people are already used to the original name and they get confused as to which model they have.
