Kindle Fire HD [???] 7 - what firmware version? [SOLVED- w/add. interesting posts]
I'm confused about the most current firmware version. I have 32 gigs of ram. To be perfectly clear, I do NOT have an HDX version.
My S/N prefix has D059, running software version 7.4.8.
The D059 prefix would indicate that I have a Kindle Fire HD 7.
Yet, in checking on Amazon's site for the most current version, I see 4.5.4.

Their version for the Kindle Fire HD (Second Generation) shows the same version: 4.5.4
I suspect this may be the version I need:

Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings, and then tap More.
Tap Device, and then tap About. If you have the latest software update, it should look like this: 7.5.1_user_5172620.
If you see an earlier version, proceed with the steps in Download & Install Software Updates Automatically.
