Alex, I just opened iBooks (probably for the first time) on my Mac and was able to add an ePub by dropping its icon on the book list. This is what you are trying to do, yes? Have you tried it with other ePub files? Maybe there is something in yours that iBooks doesn't like.

I have version 1.1.1 (600) of iBooks for Mac OS X. I assume this is the latest one, since I don't have any pending updates on the app store.
