Now, they do have an Excessive Checkout limit they run. "Your library's checkout limit determines what counts as an excessive number of titles. If users return enough titles to exceed five times their checkout limit within a seven-day period, additional checkouts will be temporarily blocked."

They can get a bit antsy if you return too many the same day (I was checking some books I'd read and did that once). The block usually lifts after a few hours, IME.
For my main library, I can have 15 books at a time, so that would be 45 returns in a week to get flagged (not much chance of that).
