K. Rowling), and others, mostly at the $4.99-$5.99 range (this is really cheap; normally these authors are priced at $11.99 CAD or more in French, non-couponable) for a limited time.

This seems to be a publisher pricing promotion; most titles are also discounted at iTunes and probably Amazon CA as well (for some reason, Google Play CA doesn't carry the usual francophone publishers).

Anyway, here are Kobo's sales page for the lot, if you're interested: Promotion: de 50% ò 70% de rabais & Jusqu'à 70% de rabais - pour un temps limité

For the non-francophones in the audience, I spotted a few $2.99 bargain novels from St. Martin's Press Minotaur Books imprint (non-couponable; I'm assuming that the prices are also good in the US and matched at the usual stores):
  • Blue Heaven by C. J. Box (SYKM, Wikipedia), a standalone suspense thriller involving children on the run after having witnessed murder, 2009 Edgar Award Best Mystery winner
  • The Highway by C. J. Box, another standalone missing children suspense thriller and another Edgar Award winner according to the blurb
  • One Dog Night by David Rosenfelt (SYKM, Wikipedia), 9th in his Andy Carpenter mysteries starring a New Jersey defense attorney which apparently involves a sidekick dog, if the series covers are anything to go by. SYKM tells me that books in this series netted Edgar, Nero, Shamus, and Barry Award nominations.
  • Unleashed by David Rosenfelt, 11th-in-series
Last four are price matched at Amazon US, at least:
