Arggh!! About Norton. Maybe that's why those Toto baskets are fashioned so deep, rather than shallow and wide.
Doggy car seats sometimes have you attach their harness to the seat strap, closely enough that they know they don't have jumping room? You'd have to rig up something, but it's worth thinking about. Maybe. Good luck! I'm glad Norton wasn't hurt (at least, you don't mention that he was....)
