I don't know which generation my Paperwhite is but I love it. It was my first eReader and I did a lot of research before buying it. I can now read in bed without having a lamp on to disturb my wife. I can read outside in bright sunlight--something I certainly cannot do on my Kindle Fire and I love the ability to make notes if something I want to know more about catches my attention.
I have a good friend who has a nook and he envies my paperwhite.
