Actually, tapping to turn the page is the odd action. I can only think of two places (reading and the dictionary popup). Everywhere else, a tap will cause some action on the item you tap.
Kobo is consistent with UI. The basic things are:
- Tapping something in a list opens it.
- A long press on an item in a list will usually show a menu.
- A horizontal swipe will turn the page. The direction depends on the direction you swipe.
- Italics generally represent something that can be tapped. Tapping the italics text will open a menu, dialog or something else.
- A plus at the end of a line of text means it is too long for the space. Pressing the plus shows the full text in a pop-up.
Inside the text area when reading, things are a little different. Italics are just italics and a tap will either turn the page or display the top and bottom menus.
