When horizontal lines appear/disappear during refresh.....

...and they end up affecting the contrast, causing a lightening of the letters and screen.

This is the problem that has developed on my Kobo Aura HD.

I suspect it may be the screen controller, although I really have no idea.

To recap:

During normal refresh when going to the next page, dark horizontal lines appear and then disappear, affecting the contrast of the affected area where they occur, which is pretty much the upper area of the screen. It's still readable, but not an experience that one cherishes on a top-of-the-line ebook reader.

I really enjoyed this Kobo ebook reader, but it's present issue has caused me to power it off and use it as a footstool. (Just joking - the footstool part only.)

First, does this sound like something that's even fixable? Or just a sell it for $30-type-fixit-to-get-rid-of-it solution?

Should I tear it apart? (I have a crowbar in the corner, but that may be too large.)

Any suggestions?
