There are magnetic cables (wsken magnetic micro) but I'm not sure if they'd work for the Kobo (particularly the H2O) since the magnetic connector tends to be kind of fat. The idea is nice though, leave one part always in the port, and allow the magnetic connector to break of if anything yanks on the cable. Nothing breaks. Never tried it though so not sure if it works like that in practice.
