Unfortunately, the software is what I call 'busy-body' software, and I'm gong to accuse Scrivener of that, too, by the way. OT:
SCRIVENER DEVELOPERS, here's a suggestion: On some software I've purchased (can't remember which ones, as this was 'in the past'), one could toggle on/off an 'ADVANCED' feature, which would then give one the full feature set of the program.
I'M GOING TO SHOUT NOW AND BOLD FACE THIS PART FOR ANY SCRIVENER DEVELOPERS WHO MAY STUMBLE UPON THIS POST: WHY NOT ADD THIS FEATURE TO SCRIVENER. IT'S UNNECESSARILY 'BUSY' AND HAS AN UNNECESSARILY COMPLICATED FEATURE SET.
Back on topic:
WriteItNow was originally ported over from the PC world, so it retains that PC look and feel, even to this day. It reflects the developer's mind-set, I think. I played around with version 4, and it IS a very capable program, in my opinion. I have yet to play around with the current version 5.
Full disclosure: I am a registered owner of Scrivener. I use it, but there are some things I dislike. (See above.)
