A Town Called Dust by Justin Woolley is the 1st in his The Territory series of YA sfnal future dystopian conspiracy-thwarting quest adventures set in very Australian-ish outback sort of walled-off area with a border fence which keeps out the zombies (Zombie-Proof Fence?) …until one day it doesn't (cue ominous music), free courtesy of publisher Pan Macmillan Australia's Momentum imprint.

This is being made free to promote the upcoming 2nd-in-series, A City Called Smoke, which is slated for release on July 9th.

Currently free @ Kobo & iTunes (both available to Canadians), and directly from the publisher's webstore (DRM-free ePub/Mobi bundle available worldwide). Normally Momentum books also go free @ Amazon (usually available to Canadians & in the UK) & B&N (also UK) & Google Play, although they seem to have skipped the last one in those stores, so price-drop-check linkage if you're feeling optimistic.

And this has been the (late!) selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.

A little bit by default, but it's nice to get more sfnally-oriented freebies (and DRM-free!) and I'm kind of hoping that the obligatory shocking the-world-is-not-as-you've-always-thought-of-it plot twist is that the zombies turn out to be the ones running the conspiracy. Surely they haven't been consuming all those braaaiins for nothing, right?

Description
Stranded in the desert, the last of mankind is kept safe by a large border fence … Until the fence falls.

Squid is a young orphan living under the oppressive rule of his uncle in the outskirts of the Territory. Lynn is a headstrong girl with an influential father who has spent her entire life within the walled city of Alice.

When the border fence is breached, the Territory is invaded by the largest horde of undead ghouls seen in two hundred years. Squid is soon conscripted into the Diggers the armed forces of the Territory. And after Lynn finds herself at odds with the Territory’s powerful church, she too escapes to join the Diggers.

Together Squid and Lynn form an unlikely friendship as they march to battle against the ghouls. Their journey will take them further than they ever imagined, leading them closer to discovering secrets about themselves, their world, and a conspiracy that may spell the end of the Territory as they know it.
