I have a vitual terminal now, runing ncurses. So Frotz ran perfectly on the first try.
I simply downloaded the source code, compiled it with kobo's arm GCC, linked against my libraries; and installed it on an external SD card. Walah, instant play.
My terminal has a vitual morse code keyboard; so I just use tap out international morse code on the screen, and the letters magically appear about as fast as I can peck...
The only requirement (beyond having a terminal program) was to set up busybox to allow it to run as a regular user rather than superuser. Frotz won't run in superuser mode.
Let the Zork sword glow again...
I am curious, though; there's a QT based interactive fiction game engine called QTads,
and also that engine comes with a web server version since 3.1.
SInce the Kobo natively runs QT anyway, and also has a web browser, I would have thought that was an ideal fit.
Has anyone ported QTads to KOBO yet?
