The Kindle is faster than the Kobo. It has better customer support.
The Kobo is more flexible. It will organize side-loaded books better than the Kindle. It is better at reading multiple formats and doing generally interesting stuff (read manga on a 6.8" screen?). Get it from a store if possible to save messing with mail returns.
