I am a strong proponent of android, I am even writing some software.
I guess we should make youtube video of standalone apps running on EINK, so to make the developers more aware of this market. Still I have some issue related to the quality of the Dutch-Eng dictionaries and this is the point... if I do not use wifi with good inbuilted dictionaries android battery shines! I know really well how android is cool as the main battery problems are screen, wifi and apps design. While the screen is not a problem, and the apps are always more efficient (even considering the smart way onDestroyed() is called in the android cycle for apps in background) the main issue remains imo the wifi.
let's focus on good dictionaries and Android will be number one. Just I am thinking if the ABVY dictionary are good enough, because I would rather pay for licensed dictionaries than not affordable source ones, if the software allow to use them.

So what I think is essential in this thread related to the battery issue is:
How Mantano, Moon+reader, Aldiko, ALreader, Kindle manage GOOD bidirectional and Oxford monolingual dictionaries (that appear with a long click on the word with a pop up)?
I have been reading your various posts on the subject and I don't know if you are aware of it, but what you are writing is actually not correct.
1. If you buy the energy Pro, you are buying a Pearl Display. If you buy the Pro+, you are buying a Carta. So if you bought an Energy Pro and they sent you a Pearl, they did their job perfectly well
2. Nobody bought a Pro+ and was sent a Pearl here. Re-read the thread mentionning this carefully please. Didierm (if this is where you think you got your information from) got a Carta. He did not like the quality of it, but it was a Carta.
3. I am a heavy user of dictionnaries with GoldenDict, and am totally happy with the way they work on Android once you understand how to implement them and how to tune them. There is actually a pop-up when I mark a word, and I can choose in which order the dictionnaries are chosen to show the definition.
4. Your OP is incredible. There are TONS of threads/posts on this subject in this subforum !!!!

Why don't you
