At the moment I'm running 1.7.0. As long as I keep wifi off, the battery goes down quite slowly - I did however turn airplane mode on and mobile data off figuring they might be a factor.
In my case (Booxtor 20141013 firmware) the battery drain is due to WiFi refresh and due to this three apps: Google Services + Google Play Store + Download Provider. You can reduce WiFi refresh adding to build.prop this line: wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180 (posts above you have my build.prop)

Btw, I don't recommend to uninstall Phone.apk or TelephonyProvider.apk because you will lose the Bluetooth.
