What that probably says is that something else is triggering the scan during the boot process. That is my case. When you boot, does your machine get non-responsive for a time? For me, it is loading a utility to tweak the memory speed of the graphics driver. I seldom notice it because I don't attempt to do anything until the machine is fully up.
