Open Road just emailed me with info about three first-in-series mysteries on sale...no idea for how long. (Per eReaderIQ, all seem to have dropped around June 1, so possibly for the month of June ???)

The email indicates they are on sale at Amazon, BN and Apple. I checked Kobo US, and all seem to be on sale there too as well, although for more, but Open Road is usually couponable, so you might come out ahead there if you have a coupon.

Amazon US links/prices:

Lonely Hearts by John Harvey (Charlie Resnick series, #1) is $1.99
link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006ZE1I1K/
Spoiler:
Quote:
Shirley Peters was murdered in her own home. A directionless young woman with a fondness for cheap red wine and a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, her death is just another in the files of the Nottingham detective’s bureau. The police round up her ex-lover without much fuss, and are preparing to try him when another body surfaces. The method, the target, and the extreme violence are all a match for the killing of Shirley Peters. Nottingham is facing a serial killer.

Detective Inspector Charlie Resnick is the first to see the connection. Both victims placed ads in a citywide Lonely Hearts column, and the rumpled detective suspects that their killer found them by preying on their isolation. He has little time to find the killer before more women die and Nottingham erupts into panic.

The 7th Victim by Alan Jacobson (Karen Vail series, #1) is $2.51.
link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KLOY3ZS/
Spoiler:
Quote:
Karen Vail is no ordinary FBI agent. She’s a profiler, brought to life by national bestselling author Alan Jacobson’s seven years of unprecedented access to the FBI’s vaunted profiling unit. The Karen Vail Series has been raved about by reviewers, readers, law enforcement officers of all stripes, real FBI profilers . . . even one of the legendary founding fathers of the Behavioral Analysis Unit.

And it all started with The 7th Victim. With a dry sense of humor and a closet full of skeletons, Karen Vail leads the Dead Eyes Task Force in its search for a serial killer who is not only murdering young women but who has an intimate knowledge of their cases—and their plan for catching him.

When the task force is unable to decipher a string of cryptic clues left behind at the crime scenes, Vail leans on a controversial profile she has drawn up—which leads her to believe that the seventh victim holds the key to finding the killer. But there’s no way she could be prepared for what she discovers as the story builds to a powerful ending no reader will see coming.

Blockbuster author Nelson DeMille described FBI profiler Karen Vail as “tough, smart, funny, [and] very believable,” and literary icon Michael Connelly called her “my kind of hero.” Named one of the top five books of the year by Library Journal, The 7th Victim gets the critically acclaimed, bestselling Karen Vail Series off to a groundbreaking start.

Dead Man's Thoughts by Carolyn Wheat (Cass Jameson series, #1) is $2.83.
link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RWJPR2I/
Spoiler:
Quote:
Cass Jameson feels at home in court. A Brooklyn legal-aid attorney, she defends prostitutes, drug dealers, and burglars, helping them navigate the tangled justice system one hearing at a time. After years of drudgery, she dreams of quitting her career in law to become a professional photographer—a dream she has discussed only with her boyfriend, fellow attorney Nathan Wasserstein. It is a dream they will never get to share.

One afternoon, Cass finds Nathan’s apartment unlocked. The kitchen has been ransacked, the living room trashed. And in the bedroom, she finds Nathan tied to his bed, savagely murdered. When the police investigation falters, Cass takes it on herself to find her lover’s killer—even if it means learning things about him that make her question everything.
