It occurs to me that if you don't have Word, then you're unlikely to have Word files to convert in the first place, so it seems the better question might be: what's necessary to read the files types you use.

Just a thought....

Or should I be reading this that Word is required to convert PDF's, TXT's and RTF's as well? That seems unlikely.
