Have the same version of Calibre on my desktop PC running the same version of Windows and it's fine.
Tried running Calibre in debug mode (calibre-debug -g) and it gives me nothing but confirmation of the OS version, and that it's a 64bit OS)
Tried installing Calibre version 1.48 and the result is the same.
The frustrating thing is that Calibre used to work fine on both PCs.

Any help appreciated.

oh! and I tried running in "safe mode" and it still crashes!
Are you really sure you are running Windows 64bit?

1) rename (or backup and delete) the config folder (calibre will then install a fresh one)
2) Uninstall Calibre. Then delete program files/calibre2 if it still exists (a clue that something burped)
