That you are prompted for install new patches can be triggered by some other patch / update cycle from Microsoft. Due to dependencies (unknown to us mortals) installing 1 patch can always lead to a waterfall of additional needed patches (believe me I have been there recently after configuring a new machine). So good practice is after some update to always re-query again and again for any other patches until none are found.

also invokes the update installation process, as a number of us have commented on in this thread. Something has certainly triggered Windows to give me these old patches, which I would oresumably have installed at the time of their release.
