Amazon always claimed that the blue "fringe" was perfectly normal and that there was nothing wrong with the tablet screen. I had two of them, purchased about 8 months apart from one another and they both had the blue edge.
But, since it was normal and my eyes adjusted to it after like 10 seconds, I stopped thinking about it and don't look for it any more. You could go to Best Buy and look at the floor model. I think they still sell the aging HDX 7.
