It's
based on Android, yes, but generally when people talk about "Android devices" they mean a device that you can install apps on, which is not the case with the Sony. The T1 was a nice enough reader in its day, but that day was long ago, and it fares poorly when compared against modern readers. Screen technology has moved on a lot since its day.
