I'm not sure I understand this statement. Unless you have the very original iPhone you should be fine. Anything past (and including) the iPhone 3G should work just fine w/ bluetooth headphones.

I found a pair at Big Lots for $20, and while they don't have the best sound quality for music, they have great battery life and range and they're great for audiobooks, youtube videos, and even Amazon Prime video. I find it MUCH more convenient to be untethered from the wire if you want to move around at all while listening (such as while washing dishes).
