I own a Surface Pro 3 and just went on a 10 day trip. It replaced my laptop superbly.

However, I usually use my Galaxy Note as my ebook reader. I find the Surface Pro 3 is quite large. I do love it for news - I use NextGen rss reader for this.

I did read a couple of comics from ScribeD in my browser and it worked ok, but not great. Sadly ScribeD doesn't have a Windows app. Haven't tried ComicRack.
