Make passing Calibre Columns in optional (see personal.ini tab) and only pass savemetacol data when column is configured to reduce data passed to/from BG processes.

This is an internal optimization that might help those users who insist on abusing the update feature. I continue to have no sympathy for such users, but I also don't need to hear them complaining.

BTW, it seems like we have fewer users trying out the test versions than we used to--witness the bug that necessitated releasing v2.2.8 the same day as v2.2.7 even after the test version was out for a couple weeks.

Would more people try the test versions if I went back to posting them in line? Or if I used a direct download link to the test zip?
