I write the first post considering an audience of non-technical people who do not completely understand the risks and ramifications of sideloading firmware. As such, I prefer to err on the conservative side of making sure that information that's not part of the official release is widely confirmed before adding it. In any case, this information will be in either this thread or the release discussion thread well before I add it on the first post.
I consider loading firmware on non-released devices a dangerous activity, at one point Kobo was threatening to ensure that this bricked your device. And it can still brick your device, which is why you wait for the few inevitable brave souls who will take the risk upon themselves and sideload the firmware onto non-released devices.
When I see enough posts that people have loaded the firmware onto non-released models, I'll update the first post to reflect this.
In this particular instance, while people have said they've loaded 3.16.0 onto the Glo, DNSB and davidfor are the first ones (that I've seen) that said which Mark's firmware to use.
Considering that I consider davidfor an authoritative source on the firmware, I'll update the first post to reflect his statement in the last post above this one. Which isn't to snub DNSB, who's statements on this I also rate highly.
You are, of course, welcome to do anything you want to do with your device. However, unless you specifically need something in the new release, or you're just a thrillseeker, hold off on sideloading the firmware onto non-released models until you are comfortable that it won't harm your device.
Another question regarding the use of the Mark 4 firmware on the Glo is whether or not the entire package is sideloaded, or just KoboRoot.tgz and not the update directory (which contains the kernel).
