I finished Ancillary Sword by Ann Leckie. I really liked it, and am a bit annoyed with myself for putting it off for so long. I was far too worried that it wouldn't be able to follow the first book. It feels quite different, and it's very much a second book in a trilogy, in that it leaves some big questions unresolved, but it was still very readable.

I've also just finished Sudden Blow by Liz Brady, an award-winning crime novel set in Toronto. This was part of my alphabetic detectives challenge (Jane Yeats, for Y), and I don't think I'd have read it otherwise. It was OK, but not that special.

I'm probably going to go for The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison next.
