[QUOTE=davidfor;3114819]Here are how the buttons work:
  • Pushing the power button briefly puts the device to sleep.
  • Holding the power button down for a few seconds starts a shutdown. This is controlled and saves anything needed. At the end, the device is off and a "powered off" message will be displayed.
  • Holding the power button down for a lot long forces a power off. No saving done and is basically the same as holding the power button down in a PC. At the end, the device is off, but whatever was on the screen before is still there.
  • From off, hold the power button down and tap the bottom corners of the screen will do a factory reset. Everything will be wiped and you will be prompted to set the device up again.

This is interesting information and good to know.
Question: Can I use the POWER button (after long press 15 secs) to restart (a soft reset, similar to the Reset Hole), instead of the more drastic Factory Reset, which would wipe out my data? Then I wouldn't have to worry about removing the device from the case at all (theoretically). I like the look and feel of the case. Even though I just ordered a spare case that is a slide-in sleep/wake less expensive version. Just in case.

That wasn't me who said something about the Extended driver - I've never used it, but I think I'll try...

I convert the epub book version to get a kepub version in Calibre, Save to Disk the .kepub version, and then rename it to .kepub.epub. I realize this is not efficient (to say the least!). However, usually when I add books to Calibre, I save (epub) books that I want to put on a reader immediately to a folder, so now I just add the conversion step, and then rename. It's not the best practices use of Calibre, but I try to save many books that I have collected over years and I have over 10000 in 5 databases. Even with a "toRead" flag it gets messy. My bad for being a packrat.
My house is a cluttered mess also.

I was planning just to use the Glo HD in my main house, at night. But I am so pleased with the screen that I've decided to retire all the other ereaders (use the kindles only to access Amazon bookstore) and carry the Glo HD with me to the country on weekends as well.

I appreciate your explanations. I never did use any more than the basic features on the Glo. I only used it part-time, using kindles during the daytime or on weekends.
