The whole thing is extremely annoying. I had been really pleased that I could buy books from Google. I think now that it is going to be more trouble and angst than it is worth. Either that, or I can only buy non-DRM books from them.

What freebie did you try? I have the same version as you, but want to test before I use up credits.
