The $10-per-year plan is the "Listener Light" membership. I have that one. In my opinion, it is a super value.
As someone mentioned (whom I forgot to quote) you can get the daily specials, Whispersyncs, and at least the Buy4Get$10 promotion. Also, when companies (I remember Avis and another rental car company, and maybe another company) have had their $10 credit promotions, I have been able to take advantage of them.
Like I said, I think that it is a super value (don't tell Jeff Bezos, he might change the plan. ha.). For me, it's been a good fit with my buying habits as I never buy a full price audiobook, so I don't really need the credits.
