Question Selecting multiple books with SHIFT + Home/End - change?

I have just installed Calibre 2.30 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I think something has changed in the functionality of Calibre in selecting books with SHIFT and the Home/End keys. I'm fairly positive that it used to be possible to select multiple books by holding the SHIFT key and pressing Home or End. Now all it does is going to the left or right horizontal end of the line, it does not move and select books up to the top or the end of the list. Ctrl, SHIFT + Home doesn't do it either, just the top line becomes selected, like when you just press Ctrl.

As I see it now, there is no way to select all the books from a certain line to the top or the end with just one keystroke combination. Is there a way to get the old keyboard shortcuts back? This functionality was extremely useful and I need it very often.
