I'm about to read my first Paper Book for some time
Since I bought my first e-reader, a Sony, I have quite simply not read paper books. This is mainly because I love the convenience of the ereader. I love the fact that I can keep many books on one device and carry them with me wherever I go, all without taking up huge amounts of space. I love being able to choose fonts to read in and enlarge and adjust those fonts so as to read comfortably despite the deterioration in my reading vision as I get older. To me, a paper book has only one advantage over an ebook. That is, if I am stuck somewhere without a suitable device to read on, a print book is better than not reading at all.
So why, then, am I going to read a paper book? Very simple. Because of ridiculously high pricing as a consequence of Agency Pricing, with a smaller part played by geographic "windowing" and restrictions. As I have chosen not to obtain a pirate copy and not to wait indefinitely to read the book, I am going to borrow it from the library. However, and what a surprise, no library I have come across seems to have the ebook. So I am reluctantly going to borrow a large print paper book. A trip back in time. And a test for my poor eyes. Wish me luck.
